Abundance and the Commons – a discussion
An interesting conversation at the ICC in Berlin in 2010 and transcribed in The Wealth of the Commons collection of essays dealt with "The Generative Logic of the Commons", an account of these discussions can be found on the P2P Foundation's website.
The topic came back to the forefront recently, so we are opening up a discussion with the same question here. It is after all part of the title of CAN as well as of the NORA database; it is further defined in this recently created page on abundance.
Is there indeed "abundance" in the commons, especially ones based on natural resources? Or do such ideas amount to a denial of nature's finite limits? How can we define abundance in relation to waste, over-exploitation and sufficiency? Please join the discussion.
