Who. Many of the founders of in the Accelerator were involved in creating the Peeragogy Handbook. Others joined the Accelerator driven by interests in topics such as open source, open science, and open education. We do peer-to-peer, project-to-project collaboration to help each other out. At the moment, enrollment is open so you can join too!
What. The Peeragogy Project has built peeragogy as “something for us” rather than “something for them.” The Accelerator will help make the Handbook useful for new projects: and we improve our methods as we go.
When. We hold regular weekly meetings on Mondays at 6PM UK time, with break-out meetings and asynchronous collaboration as needed. We publish the Handbook annually on January 1st (Public Domain Day). The Accelerator will formally induct the first “class” in June, 2014. We plan to formally organize participation in 3 month blocks, and participants can commit to as many or as few of these as they wish.
Where. We value the process more than the product. The Accelerator aims to be a meta project, a place for people to bring their own projects and receive support from each other.
Why. “Success” in our own projects will provide case study material to improve the Handbook.
How. Our “How to Get Involved” page contains a list of tools and activities. Keeping in mind the importance of polycentric leadership in the Peeragogy Project, people should feel free to innovate. Our general operating principles are described in the document linked above.
Some of the projects undergoing acceleration are:
Ongoing Activities – You’re welcome to join at any time!
Weekly meetings at 1PM Eastern / 6PM UK, organized via Hangouts on Air — follow (and ping) the +Peeragogy Handbook on Google+ for invitations to these meetings.
Collaborative writing for conferences, workshops to clarify our ideas and working methods.
Parallel discussions in the Commons Abundance Network, including development of “heuristics for discussing the commons” and a “a pattern language for commons-oriented paradigm shift”. We’re working on the CAN website to maximize our chances for synergism with other commons-oriented projects.
Maintaining and extending the Peeragogy Handbook. If you want to join in, see http://peeragogy.org/how-to-get-involved.
